Fair Labor in Bangladesh:
Background:
• Earlier this Spring, over 1,100 factory workers passed away at the Rana Plaza Factory collapse in Savar, Bangladesh. This is in addition to almost monthly fires at clothing factories in that country.
• The American public is barely aware that most of our clothes are made in such conditions, standing idly by and silently condoning these what these major multinational corporations do.
What you can do this afternoon to help solve the problem:
Through your Facebook Account or through email, encourage any of the following retailers to support the Accord on Fire and Building Safety, an agreement that would have entailed a five year commitment from all participating retailers to conduct independent safety inspections.
• The good news: H & M, Abercrombie & Fitch. Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger have signed the agreement.
• The bad news: the following companies haven’t…click to make contact.
